Interpol National Central Bureau in Pretoria and SAPS arrested three (3) Somalian nationals for fraud and corruption during disruptive operations executed at land border posts from 27 February 2026 to 11 March 2026 in Mpumalanga.
According to SAPS Spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mukhathi on 10 March 2026, Interpol NCB Pretoria members while conducting documents screening in pursue of wanted persons as well as stolen and fraudulent traveling documents, arrested a 40 -year-old Falis Abdullah Sheik-Mohamed in possession of a Norwegian passport.
“Her passport tested positive on the Interpol Mobile Device (IMD) which prompted further investigation and follow-up. The passport was also circulated on the Interpol global database by Norwegian authorities and further inquiries revealed that the passport was revoked by Norwegian Immigration Department.
“Sheik-Mohamed was further declined entry into Mozambique for not having a visa on her Norwegian passport and members also confiscated her flagged passport. She later phoned her brother, a 44 -year- old Hussein Mohamed Ali to come to her rescue,” he said.
Mukhathi said the astute members arrested suspects for allegedly trying to bribe a member with an amount of R2000, 00 for her release at Spur restaurant in Komatipoort.
“Hussein Mohamed Ali accomplice who was their driver, a 38-year-old Mukhtaar Mohamed was intercepted by the operational members and arrested on the scene. The trio Somalian nationals were immediately arrested and detained at Komatipoort police station,” he said.
Mukhathi said the team also confiscated three cell phones, R2000,00 cash, Norwegian passport and BMW X3 vehicle during the operation.
“They have already appeared in the Komatipoort Magistrates’ Court on charges of fraud, corruption and illegal immigration today, and their case has been postponed until 17 and 20 March 2026,” he said.
