Reality TV star says he has been denied access to Ashley Ogle’s newborn
Big Brother Mzansi winner Sweet Guluva has broken his silence as online talk continues to swirl, accusing him of being an absent father to Ashley Ogle’s newborn child.
In a statement issued by his team, Sweet Guluva, whose real name is Akhonamathemba Zwane (also reported as Akhonamathemba Mbele-Zwane), said he has never met or seen the baby in person. He claims this is not by choice, but because Ogle has repeatedly refused to grant him access, despite what he describes as numerous attempts to resolve the matter privately.
The situation has intensified in recent days, with fans and social media commentators weighing in heavily, turning a personal issue into a public storm.
“We intentionally refrained from commenting,” statement says
According to the statement, Sweet Guluva and his team deliberately stayed quiet until now.
“We would like to take this opportunity to take you into confidence on the rumours currently circulating on social media,” the statement read, explaining that they had viewed the former couple’s relationship as part of the past and their conversations during that period as private.
But, the statement suggests, the growing public narrative made silence difficult to maintain, especially as the claims continued to spread without what his team considers proper context.
He claims he sought to resolve the matter privately since early 2025
Sweet Guluva’s statement claims that since the beginning of 2025, he has made repeated efforts to meet with Ogle to discuss the child and find a respectful way forward.
His team said he also requested that his family be allowed to visit Ogle’s family to address “damages” in line with Zulu cultural practices, a process traditionally followed in matters involving pregnancy outside of marriage.
“During these interactions with Ashley, it was made clear by Sweet Guluva that he wants to be involved in the child’s life,” the statement said.
It added that, to date, he has “neither met nor seen this child in person” because Ogle is allegedly refusing to agree to the request.
Legal representatives instructed to intervene
Sweet Guluva’s team said they have compiled records of his attempts to handle the matter privately and that these have been submitted to legal representatives.
The statement also indicates that legal correspondence has been sent requesting access to the child, alongside a formal paternity process. His team said a DNA test is part of that process, arguing that it would be irresponsible for him to make definitive public claims about paternity before confirming the facts.
His team maintained that Sweet Guluva is willing to take responsibility if the child is confirmed to be his, but insisted that he wants the matter handled properly, with dignity for everyone involved.
Public attention remains high after the pair’s split
Sweet Guluva and Ogle’s relationship attracted significant attention among Big Brother Mzansi viewers, and their breakup has continued to fuel conversation online, especially as fans follow updates about their lives.
For now, the dispute appears headed toward formal legal steps. While the debate continues in public, the most important questions, and the most sensitive ones, may ultimately be settled away from social media.
