The Nkabinde Enquiry resumes its public hearings today, entering a decisive phase in the inquiry into the fitness of Andrew Chauke to hold the office of Director of Public Prosecutions.
Established in terms of section 12(6) of the National Prosecuting Authority Act, the Enquiry is mandated to determine whether Advocate Chauke remains fit and proper to occupy the position, following evidence and submissions presented prior to the adjournment in December.
As proceedings resume, the Enquiry is expected to hear further testimony from witnesses led by the Evidence Leaders, as well as witnesses called by Advocate Chauke’s legal team, as the fact-finding process continues.
Today’s sitting marks an important continuation of the public hearings, with implications for prosecutorial leadership and institutional accountability within the justice system.
