A tense moment unfolded at a construction site in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront on Friday when a trench collapsed, trapping two workers underground.
Emergency services rushed to the scene as colleagues and rescue teams worked quickly to reach the men. Thanks to the protective shoring installed in the trench, both workers were shielded from serious harm and successfully rescued.
They were safely pulled out and immediately given medical attention. Fire and rescue teams remained on site to manage the situation and ensure the area was secured.
The incident happened during ongoing infrastructure repair work, and authorities are continuing to monitor the site as investigations continue. More details are expected as the situation develops.
