Driving under the influence of alcohol and Gender Based violence continues to impact the province of peace ahead of their Christmas Eve celebration.

Provincial police have released a one week report ( from 15 December _ 21 December 2005), indicating that about 1525 suspects were arrested.
The operation was executed through roadblocks stop and searches, tracing operations and high visibility disruptions and crime awareness campaigns.

The suspects were arrested for various offenses:
- illegal migrants (384)
- driving under the influence of alcohol (99)

- malicious damage of property ( 43)
- assault common (101)
- rape (21)
- possession of drugs (61)
- illicit mining (45)
- theft of or from motor vehicle (03)
- murder (03)

- illegal possession of ammunition (03)

- possession of counterfeit goods (4)
- illegal dealing in liquor (84)

Provincial Police Commissioner Lt General Thembi Habede has praised the team’s in removing all forms of criminality in the province.
