Well known Advocate Riegel du Toit of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) whose name was mentioned to be on the Czech former crime boss Radovan Krejcir’s alleged hit list is no more.
The news of his passing away was confirmed by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi.
In a statement released on Saturday, Kubayi said that it was with deep sadness to learn about the passing away of Du Toit.
Du Toit served as a Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in the Gauteng and he was based at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Johannesburg.
“Du Toit served the justice system with dedication and professionalism, contributing meaningfully to the work of the National Prosecuting Authority and the broader pursuit of justice,” she said.
Kubayi said that she extends her heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and relatives of Du Toit during this difficult time.
She further conveyed her sympathies to his colleagues and the entire prosecutorial fraternity who have lost a committed and respected public servant.
