Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala will testify before the Ad Hoc Committee today after his urgent request for a postponement was denied.
His legal team argued they faced severe time constraints, overwhelming volumes of documents and difficult detention conditions that made proper preparation “virtually impossible.”
Matlala’s lawyer, Matlhatsi Abram Madira, says the defence has struggled to review the extensive affidavits and evidence required for the inquiry and warns that his client’s current detention added further restrictions. Despite this, the committee ruled that the hearing would proceed.
