Cheika is expecting fireworks from each packs as he builds his group with one eye on subsequent 12 months’s World Cup in France.

“We’re still only one month together as a coaching team and playing group,” mentioned Cheika.

“We’re focussing on ourselves and the combinations we have within the team, communication, game plan, technique on the most important thing in this game: the scrum, maul, ruck. That’s very important for our team.”

Asked if he had any particular objectives for this match – through which Argentina have completed with the picket spoon eight occasions in 10 earlier participations – Cheika confirmed the Rugby Championship was secondary to his most important goal.

“The objective is very clear for us, it is putting the team in a situation where they can be competitive with all the big teams: top-ranked teams, middle-ranked teams and teams that are coming up because that’s what we will meet in the World Cup.”

Argentina misplaced each match in final season’s Rugby Championship and did not even choose up a dropping bonus level – their tightest recreation being a 15-point defeat.

But the Pumas have been thrown into disarray greater than most by the coronavirus pandemic which noticed their Jaguares Super Rugby franchise successfully damaged up and their gamers all searching for new employers.

‘FULL OF CONFIDENCE’

Until July’s collection against Scotland, Argentina had not performed at residence in virtually three years.

And whereas they have not overwhelmed Australia since 2018 – though they drew each match matches in 2020 – Rennie believes they are going to be a unique proposition to 12 months in the past.

“Argentina will be full of confidence after their home series win over Scotland and we know we’ll need to be at our best to get a good result on Saturday afternoon,” Rennie mentioned.
