The case against a 67-year-old woman accused of driving into a group of teenage girls during a coming-of-age ceremony has been postponed to September 26.
The incident, which happened on June 28 in Dinwiddie, Germiston, claimed the life of 13-year-old Thando Pretty Mahlangu. The accused, identified as Martha Christina, briefly appeared in court and remains out on bail. She currently faces a culpable homicide charge.

Prosecutors said they need more time to gather evidence, including photos and video footage of the crash. Mahlangu’s family, however, expressed frustration, questioning why information such as the hospital report, postmortem results, and scene reconstruction—which they say had already been submitted—was still not before the court.
Family members also voiced disappointment that charges were not upgraded to murder, saying they had hoped for stronger accountability at Wednesday’s hearing.
