Heartbreak has gripped the Eldorado Park community after a four-year-old girl lost her life in what police believe was a horrific case of abuse at the hands of her own parents.
Neighbours, alarmed by signs of mistreatment, alerted police. When officers arrived, they discovered the young girl and her little brother in a small shack behind a house. The girl’s tiny body bore the marks of prolonged suffering — severe head injuries, deep bruises, and a swollen eye.
She was rushed to hospital, but her injuries were too severe. She passed away while her father was making a brief court appearance. The 32-year-old is now facing charges of rape and murder.
Her mother has also been taken into custody, accused of turning a blind eye to the abuse and failing to protect her daughter.
