A devastating crash on the R66 near the Dokodweni Bridge in Gingindlovu, northern KwaZulu-Natal, has left a family shattered. Five relatives lost their lives in the accident, which involved a bakkie and a light motor vehicle. Among the victims were a three-year-old child and a two-month-old baby.
Seven other family members were seriously injured in the crash, including four children—all under the age of 14—and three adults. Emergency responders arrived at the scene quickly, working to stabilize the injured before rushing them to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The road, often busy and known for accidents, was the site of sorrow and shock as paramedics and bystanders worked under grim conditions.
Messages of sympathy have been pouring in for the grieving family, as the community comes to terms with the heartbreaking loss.
