The Bethlehem K9 Unit and Crime Intelligence in the Free State have successfully intercepted large quantities of drugs from hitting the streets, arrested the foreign national, 46 years of age, and seized the vehicle used in the commission of the crime outside Bohlokong township.
On 17 July 2025 at about 17:30, the police received information with regard to the person in possession of drugs. The police identified the suspect and the vehicle involved. It was accosted by the Bethlehem K9 Unit on R26 outside Bohlokong with a driver who tried to flee but was stopped. They searched the suspect’s vehicle with GP registration and plastic bags containing suspected khat drug weighing 10 kilograms to an estimated street value of R3.2 million. He was also found in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash. Both drugs and the vehicle have been seized.
Thabo Mofutsanana Policespokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the suspect is arrested and charged. He is expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate Court on Monday, 21 July 2025, facing the charge of dealing in drugs.
