A 65-year-old doctor narrowly escaped death after being shot several times while driving to work in Westville, Durban, on Friday morning.
The doctor, who is believed to specialize in gastroenterology, was ambushed by unknown gunmen during his morning commute. Despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, he managed to escape the attack with his life.
Police have confirmed they are investigating a case of attempted murder, but the motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this stage.
In a separate incident, a man was gunned down in Avoca, north of Durban, just a day earlier. He was leaving his driveway when gunmen in a white Toyota Etios pulled up and opened fire. The victim died at the scene, and a search is underway to locate the suspects.
