A devastating head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the R34 near Vryheid claimed twelve lives and injured dozens in the early hours of this morning.
The bus, carrying political party supporters returning from Youth Day celebrations in Durban, crashed just after midnight, with the truck subsequently striking its side.
Ten passengers were seriously injured and rushed to hospitals, while twenty-two others sustained minor injuries.
Both drivers survived and are receiving treatment.
The R34 remains closed as authorities, including the Road Traffic Inspectorate and South African Police Service, investigate the cause of the tragedy.
