Highlands Park faces a 57-point deduction after Nigerian striker was found to have played with fake visa documents.
Highlands Park FC could lose 57 points and their place at the top of the SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League after it was revealed that Nigerian striker Franklin Ogbonna played the season using fake visa documents.
The Department of Home Affairs confirmed Ogbonna’s study and work visas were fraudulent. His appearances helped secure 57 of the club’s 83 points. If docked, the team would drop to 18th, forfeiting their league title and promotion.
Highlands Park, which once competed in the PSL, has not issued a statement. The case has triggered public outrage and could reshape how South African football handles immigration breaches.
