MINOR RAPED ON HER WAY FROM DOING HOMEWORK
A 25-year-old rapist was found guilty by the Phuthaditjhaba Regional court for the rape of a 14-year-old victim.
He was sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment and his name will be added to the Sexual Offences register.
The victim told the court during the trial that on 02 April 2024 at about 13:45, she was coming from her friend ‘s place to do homework when she came across the accused at the bridge. The Rapist instructed her to go with him to his place.
On arrival, the accused tied her to the headboard with a rope and started raping her several times. She then put her clothes on while the accused was sitting in the bedroom. She then tried to unlock the door and the Rapist appeared and threatened her with a knife, but she still managed to run away. She reported the matter to her mother, who then reported the matter to the police.
Thabo Mofutsanana Policespokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said after the incident a case of rape was registered and investigated by Sergeant Mmapitso Mofokeng, from the Phuthaditjhaba Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences who worked tirelessly with public prosecutor Sebogo
and Magistrate Msimanga to send the Rapist to secure the successful prosecution.
