Wynberg Court shooting, accused to return to court in May
The case against Brian Booysen and Wanay Farao, charged in connection with the deadly Wynberg court shooting, has been postponed to 9 May 2025.
The delay will allow the accused time to secure legal representation and prepare for a potential bail application, which the State has indicated it will oppose under Schedule 6 provisions.
During court proceedings, it emerged that both Booysen and Farao are allegedly linked to the JFKs gang. Booysen is accused of organising the two firearms used in the shooting, while Farao allegedly assisted in smuggling the weapons into the court building.
Following the incident, the pair allegedly collaborated to dispose of the firearms, which remain unrecovered.
Booysen and Farao are scheduled to appear alongside one of the alleged shooters, Abubaker Adams, at their next court date.
Investigators have indicated that further charges and additional suspects may be added as the probe continues.
