NELSPRUIT – A suspect, aged 32, was arrested in Ermelo during Operation Vala Umgodi, for possession of dagga on Saturday, 19 April 2025. The suspect was apprehended by members from the Combat team. The team conducted a disruptive operation at a certain mine in Ermelo. It was during this time when they received information about a suspicious luggage that was left in the parcel counter at a certain supermarket in Ermelo. Upon arrival at the supermarket, the suspect was apprehended. Two black plastic bags, starched with dagga were recovered, weighing at about 3.5 kilograms with an estimated value of about +/- R10 000.
The suspect was charged for possession of dagga. He is expected to appear at the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, facing the said charges.
