A fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon at the Emergency Unit of Tembisa Hospital has been successfully extinguished, according to Ekurhuleni mayor Alderman Nkosindiphile Xhakaza.
Firefighters and emergency teams from Gauteng remain on site to monitor the area and ensure safety. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there have been no reported injuries or fatalities.
Xhakaza confirmed that all 48 patients who were in the affected section have been safely accounted for. He added that a joint operation center has been established with disaster management teams to manage the aftermath and gather detailed information.

“Everything is under control. The emergency section was the only part affected, and we’re awaiting processed data for a more comprehensive update,”he said.
