SAPS detains two Nigerian nationals for dealing in drugs

WESTERN CAPE – Police members of the Anti-Economic Crimes Task Team conducted an intelligence driven operation on Tuesday, 16 April 2025 and in the process detained two Nigerian nationals for dealing in drugs.

The members operationalised the information at their disposal and approached a premises believed to be a drug production facility in Delft. When they entered the facility they discovered and confiscated 5.3 kg methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R 795 000-00. They detained a 43-year-old Nigerian national for dealing in drugs and the contravention of the Immigration Act.

Further investigation led the police members to an identified premises in Bellville. Upon their arrival a searche ensued which led to the recovery of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R 135 000-00. They detained a 40-year-old Nigerian woman for dealing in drugs and the contravention of the Immigration Act.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
