Media Statement ZASTRON – Swift action by members of the Zastron Visible Policing unit has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old male for the possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license. The arrest followed intelligence led information received by police regarding illegal activity at the Ezibeleni informal settlement at about 10:00. Upon responding to the information, members apprehended the suspect who was found to be in possession of a firearm and ammunition for which he could not provide a valid license. Preliminary investigations also revealed that the recovered firearm was reported stolen from a local farm. Police have launched a further investigation into the matter to determine the full circumstances surrounding the possession of the unlicensed firearm and its theft. The arrested suspect is expected to appear in the Zastron Magistrate’s Court soon. Ends
