SAPS arrests 222 in r*pe cases, including teacher and elderly man
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the arrest of 222 individuals linked to r*pe cases across the country in a single week, spanning from March 31 to April 6, 2025.
Among those arrested are a 58-year-old teacher, apprehended on March 31, 2025, for the alleged r*pe of a 13-year-old female pupil in the Capricorn District of Limpopo, and a 79-year-old man, arrested on March 30, 2025, in Cottondale Trust, Acornhoek, Mpumalanga, for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.
These arrests highlight a broad range of suspects, including educators and elderly individuals, involved in gender-based violence and crimes against minors.
