Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has reiterated the party’s stance that it will not work in a government that includes both the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Freedom Front Plus (FFPlus).
The EFF leader says the DA and the FFPlus are the enemies of progress.
Malema was speaking in Sophiatown, Johannesburg, where he addressed the EFF’s land reclamation day event.
“Comrades, we can promise you now, we will never working government that will include the DA. We will never work in a government that will include the FFPlus those are the people who killed our own people, when we say, this is the enemy, if you don’t know how the enemy looks like, look at the DA and FFPlus, those are the enemies of progress and we will never work with them.”

Malema says the party will continue fighting against the value-added tax (VAT) increase.
Last week, parliament passed the fiscal policy framework, but the half a percentage point VAT hike has been deferred for 30 days to develop proposals on how money can be raised.
“We are refusing that VAT increase in South Africa.”

Malema also reflected on the forced removals that occurred in Sophiatown in 1955. The EFF likened the removals to the land struggle in Palestine.
“The reason why we support Palestine it is because Sophiatown was like Palestine at some point. We know forced removals, we know land dispossession and therefore, the struggle of Palestine is our struggle. We must make sure that we spread the word all over and support the children of Palestine because we know the pain of losing land.”
