POLOKWANE – The members of South African Police Service in Limpopo have scooped multiple awards during the National Pistol Championship hosted recently in Eastern Cape province. SAPS Practical Pistol Championship were hosted at the Port Elizabeth Rifle and Pistol Club in the Eastern Cape province from 10 to 14 March 2025. More than hundred SAPS members participated in the event. Limpopo Province was well represented with a total of 23 members. They competed for two days as individuals with a total of ten stages as well as one day of Team Events and Marksmanship evaluations. On Thursday 03 April 2025, the recipients under the leadership of Colonel Erasmus, Letsitele Police Station Commander assembled at the Provincial Boardroom to showcase their medals to the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, who proudly welcomed the team with open hands. “I would like to thank you colleagues and congratulations on your achievements. You have my full support and will ensure resources are made available for you. “We must always be consistent in our shooting practices for our own work and competencies. This will go a long way as we deal with crime in our respective spaces,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe. Limpopo did extremely well during the competition with the following awards: Individual successes: 1. Lieutenant Colonel Joubert Commander of Tzaneen Crime intelligence: Bronze – Men Super Senior (55+) Stage win – Bronze for Stage 4 2. Warrant Officer SJ Joubert Letsitele SAPS Gold – Senior Ladies (50-55) Silver – Lady Category C Bronze – Overall Ladies She also received the following stage medals Gold : Stages 5 and 10 Silver: Stage 2 Bronze: Stages 1 and 8 3.Sergeant H Mabasa Tzaneen SAPS Gold – Men Category D 4. Constable Jimmy Nematshema from Dennilton SAPS is a Novice and first-time participant in this sport and obtained the following successes: Gold – Novice Men Silver – Category D Stage win- Bronze for stage 5 5. Sergeant Charlotte Chuene from Lebowakgomo SAPS is a Novice and first-time participant in this sport and obtained the following successes: Silver – Novice Ladies She also succeeded in achieving her marksmanship badge. 6. Limpopo Men A Achieved Silver consisting of the following members Col SM Erasumus – Letsitele SAPS Lt Col H Joubert – Tzaneen Crime intelligence Warrant Officer P Pretorius – Bela Bela SAPS AC H De Beer – Tzaneen SAPS 7. Novice Men – Silver consisting of the following members: Sgt Lazarus Mothwa – Polokwane PES Constable Tau Tautsoala – Dennilton SAPS Const Jimmy Nematshema – Dennilton SAPS 8. Novice Ladies – Gold Sergeant Charlotte Chuene- Lebowakgomo SAPS Constable Lucky Kgomo – Rooiberg SAPS Constable Irene Marokane – Bela Bela SAPS Constable Nancy Setabolla – Mankweng SAPS 9. Marksmanship achievements: The following members qualified for the marksmanship status: Sgt Charlotte Chuene- Lebowakgomo SAPS AC Heinrich De Beer – Tzaneen SAPS Sgt Marrawy Maswanganyi – Dennilton SAPS 10. The following members were selected to represent the SAPS National team at the interforces hosted by SANDD from 7 July until 14 July in Ysterplaat, Western Cape Lt Col H Joubert WO SJ Joubert Sgt C Cheune Sgt P Gumede Special Guest – Colonel SM Erasmus 11.
