ODENDAALSRUS – Welkom Public Order Policing (POP) members’ crime combating duties led to the arrest of three suspects aged between 26 and 33 at separate locations for possession and dealing in drugs. On Thursday, 3 April 2025 members received and traced information from a concerned resident about where drugs are being sold. The information led them to a house in K6, Kutlwanong. Upon searching, members discovered 17 mandrax tablets and money hidden in the house. The 26-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested for possession and dealing in drugs. On the same day, during a stop and search, members confiscated 5 mandrax tablets, a butcher knife, and an undisclosed amount of cash. A 29-year-old male suspect was subsequently arrested for possession of drugs and possession of dangerous weapon. In another incident, while conducting a stop and search, members apprehended a 33-year-old African male in the Welkom CBD. The suspect was found in possession of 35 mandrax tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash. Three suspects aged 26, 29 and 33 were arrested for the various charges. They will appear in the Odendaalsrus and Welkom Magistrate’s Court soon. Ends
