GAUTENG – Matthew Fourie (23) and Kosovar national, Nemanja Vuckovic (31) are appearing today in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court for a possible bail hearing following the postponement of their case on Monday, 17 March 2025. The pair has been charged with dealing, trafficking, and possession of illicit drugs. The Johannesburg based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation’s Narcotics has achieved a significant success in the fight against drug trafficking, resulting in the seizure of cocaine with an estimated street value of just over a million rands and the arrest of two accused on Saturday, 15 March 2025. The team acted on credible intelligence received regarding the transportation and distribution of cocaine from KwaZulu-Natal into Gauteng, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni. At around 04:00 am the identified vehicle was monitored and intercepted along the R23 near Brakpan. A preliminary investigation led the team to a residence at Groove End Road, Beyerspark, Boksburg North. This was after a search of the Nissan NP 200 vehicle uncovered 2 kg of cocaine, valued at over R670 000. The team proceeded to the second location, along 3rd Road, Albertskroon, where another kilogram of cocaine valued at around R330 000 was discovered. Additionally, a loaded licensed 9 mm pistol was also confiscated for further testing. The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Gauteng Major General Ebrahim Kadwa has commended the team. “We commend the dedicated members of the Johannesburg SOCI Narcotics Unit for their relentless efforts in curbing the distribution of illicit drugs and ensuring the safety of our communities. The continued partnership between law enforcement and the public is vital in fighting crime”, concluded. Ends
