Media Statement POLOKWANE – Following the ongoing Vala Umgodi operations conducted across Limpopo Province, the police arrested a Zimbabwean foreign national, aged 22, in Capricorn District on Thursday, 13 March 2025, for illegal mining activities and contravention of the Immigration Act. His arrest stems from information that was operationalised about the continuing illegal mining activities at Bergenek Village, in Westenburg policing precinct. One suspect, aged 22, was arrested for illegal mining and contravention of the Immigration Act at an illegal mining site in Bergenek Village. During the arrest, the suspect failed to produce a valid mining permit, and he was also without a passport. The following items were confiscated: Ten Shovels Two Spades One Hand saw Eight Picks Four Torches One Stylo cellphone One Hisense cellphone The suspect will soon appear before Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.
