Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Two suspects are scheduled to appear in Bellville Magistrates’ Court today following their arrest together with two others during a takedown operation in Delft last week. A multidisciplinary task team comprising members attached to Delft SAPS visible policing and detectives, Crime Intelligence, Tactical Response Team, Crime Combatting Unit, Local Criminal Record Centre and Crime Information Management Analysis Centre arrested five suspects aged between 30 and 35 on charges of murder and extortion on Friday, 7 March 2025. This takedown operation was planned and executed to address gang and extortion related crime. These suspects were traced and arrested for their involvement for incidents of gangsterism and extortion in the Delft policing area. The first suspect, a 33-year-old man, was arrested when he handed himself over to the investigation officer at Delft SAPS. Five cellular telephones were seized at his residential address Harrier Street, The Hague, Delft, and were handed in as exhibits and further processing. This suspect is a leader of a local gang grouping in the Delft area. He is charged for POCA Section 9, three murder cases, a triple murder, dealing in drugs, two extortion cases, and intimidation. A second suspect, a 33-year-old male, was requisitioned from Goodwood prison. He was in custody prior to the takedown on another matter (murder case registered in Elsies Rivier July 2024). He is charged for POCA Section 9 and murder. A third suspect, a 35-year-old male, was requisitioned from Goodwood prison. He is in custody on another matter prior to takedown operation. He is charged for POCA and a triple murder case Two suspects aged 33 and 35 (suspect two and three) will be appearing in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, 13 March 2025 for the POCA Act and murder charges All the suspects were brought before court, and their cases were centralised for investigation purposes, and their cases were postponed until 27 March 2025 for formal bail application.
