PHUTHADITJHABA – Phuthaditjhaba detectives have arrested a 32-year-old suspect at the Harrismith Correctional Services facility during a routine visit. The suspect, who had been evading law enforcement, was apprehended when he reported to the correctional facility in another matter. He has since been charged and is expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 7 March 2025, facing charges of murder and attempted murder. His arrest is linked to an incident that occurred on 3 March 2025, at approximately 05:30, when community members discovered two men lying in the street with stab wounds. A 19-year-old victim was declared dead at the scene, while a 20-year-old victim sustained injuries and was hospitalized. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims were attacked by a group of individuals outside a local tavern in Mandela Park, QwaQwa, for unknown reasons. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
