Media Statement EZIBELENI – A 31-year-old suspect is set to appear before the Ezibeleni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 04 March 2025, following his arrest for the alleged murder of a 29-year-old woman. The suspect was arrested on 03 March 2025 by members of the Ezibeleni SAPS after police responded to a call from a community member in Unathi Mkefa, Ezibeleni. The police arrived at the scene around 03:30 and discovered the lifeless body of the victim lying half-naked on a wet bed. Further observation of the room suggested a violent struggle may have occurred. Upon examination, it was confirmed that the victim had died from strangulation. Further investigation revealed that the suspect, who is the brother-in-law of the homestead owner, had been residing with the deceased in an outside room. He was immediately taken into custody on suspicion of murder. The suspect is expected to make his first court appearance before Ezibeleni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 04 March 2025. The District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph strongly condemns the scourge of gender-based violent crimes prevalent in our communities. Police will not recline until perpetrators are behind bars for such acts, warned Maj Gen Adolph. Ends
