Media Statement FREE STATE – The MEC for Community Safety, Roads and Transport, MEC Jabu Mbalula, together with the Provincial Commissioner of the Free State Police, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, has officially released the province’s crime statistics for the third quarter of the 2024/2025 financial year (October 2024 – December 2024). The latest statistics provide a detailed overview of crime trends across the Free State, highlighting key areas of concern as well as improvements in crime prevention efforts. The data reflects the ongoing work by police and stakeholders in ensuring the safety and security of communities across the province. MEC Mbalula reaffirmed the government’s commitment to intensifying crime-fighting strategies and strengthening partnerships between the police, community policing forums, and other stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing violent crimes, property-related offenses, and other criminal activities affecting residents. Lieutenant General Motswenyane commended the dedicated efforts of police officers and reiterated the importance of public cooperation in combating crime. She assured the public that the police remain committed to enhancing visibility, intelligence driven operations, and community engagement to ensure a safer Free State.
