WESTERN CAPE – Stellenbosch police members responded to a complaint of an armed robbery in progress at a meat market in Bridge Road, Kayamandi, on Thursday, 27 February 2025, where three armed suspects were busy robbing the store. Police members entered the store where the suspects tried to evade arrest. One suspect pointed police members with a firearm and was subsequently wounded and arrested. Two other suspects were also arrested on the premises. Three 9mm pistols with ammunition were recovered on the scene. The wounded suspect is under hospital guard at a medical facility. The adult male suspects face charges of armed robbery, attempted murder and the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. They will appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrates’ court once they have been charged. Ends
