Media Statement FICKSBURG – The police in Ficksburg are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying and apprehending a suspect involved in a brutal rape incident that occurred in Zone 7 in December 2024. On 21 December 2024, at about 20:00 the 22-year-old woman was allegedly on her way to her girlfriend’s residence when she met the suspect in Zone 7. The suspect walked with her as they were both heading in the same direction. While walking in Zone 7, near a shack, the suspect produced a knife and threatened the victim. He then forcibly dragged her next to the shack, where he raped her at knifepoint. Following the assault, he stole her clothing and chased her away naked. The victim managed to reach the Ficksburg Police Station, where she reported the heinous crime. A case of rape has been opened, and an investigation is underway. The suspect remains at large. The Criminal Record Centre has compiled a composition of the suspect. He is 1.8 meters tall, about 25 to 30 years old and Sotho-speaking. He was wearing blue jeans with a navy blue T-shirt. Police are urging anyone who may have information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to come forward and contact the Ficksburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit, Detective Sergeant Moipone Pela, at 065 851 1255. Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously by calling the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or submit an anonymous tip-off via the MySAPS app.
