Media Statement GAUTENG – The Johannesburg based Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team arrested Mr Mokapi Peter More (33) on allegations of corruption. He has been under investigation since 2023 following a complaint received from the Deputy Master at the High Court Johannesburg. It was alleged that on 30 November 2023, the Forensic Audit Unit of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development received a complaint reporting that Mr More, an Estate Controller, demanded R800-00 from a grieving complainant to expedite the issuance of a Letter of Authority. The matter was reported at the Johannesburg central police station for the Hawks’ attention. Investigation was conducted and the docket referred to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which recently decided in favour of prosecuting Mr More. On Wednesday, 26 February 2025, Mr More was arrested at 64 Eloff Street, Johannesburg. He appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on the same day, where he was granted bail of R1500-00. The court has been postponed to 20 March 2025 for further proceedings. The Provincial Head of The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) in Gauteng Major General Ebrahim Kadwa has issued a stern warning to those in positions of authority, urging them to cease using their roles for selfish ends to the detriment of society.
