MAFUBE – A 38-year-old father has been successfully prosecuted after assaulting his 16-year-old son in a domestic violence incident. On 11 August 2024, the victim was approached by his uncles, who informed him that his father had requested to see him. Upon arrival at his father’s residence, the accused assaulted him with a sjambok on his back, hands, and head, causing visible injuries. The victim later confided in his grandmother, who accompanied him to Mafube SAPS, where a case of Assault GBH (Domestic Violence) was registered. Following a thorough investigation by Constable Nathi Mbele from the Mafube Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS), the case proceeded to trial at the Frankfort Magistrate’s Court. On 25 February 2025, the accused was sentenced to a fine of R4,000 or eight (8) months’ imprisonment, suspended for five (5) years. Ends
