The Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) party has initiated an internal disciplinary process against party member Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.
Earlier this month, Zuma-Sambudla took to social media hurling insults at party Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu expressing her dissatisfaction with how certain issues are handled within the organisation.
Gauteng MKP Deputy Secretary-General Nombuso Mkhize says, “So in the instance of Duduzile Sambudla, (we) would like to clearly indicate that disciplinary processes, internal disciplinary processes are in progress.”
Meanwhile, Shivambu says his party will intentionally pursue the reconstitution of the KwaZulu-Natal government to be led by or include the MKP.
Shivambu’s comments come as the MKP, which received the majority of votes in the province in the 2024 elections, did not form part of its leadership.
Speaking at a press briefing in Sandton, Johannesburg today, Shivambu says the MKP will demonstrate itself as a sound and superior alternative to the status quo.
“The province of KwaZulu-Natal is confronted with multiple crises of misgovernance, failure to deliver water to many communities, collapsing infrastructure, undermining of royal and traditional leadership, the inability of the provincial government to timeously provide the needed learning and teaching support materials to all schools,” he says.

Mkhwebane
Shivambu has also reiterated the party’s stance that Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane remains the party’s provincial convenor for Mpumalanga.
Mkhwebane assumed the position of convenor after the suspension of Mary Phadi who held the position. This is despite a ruling made by the courts that Phadi’s suspension was unlawful.
As a result, both Mkhwebane and Phadi held parallel rallies in Mpumalanga in an attempt to assert their positions.
Shivambu says that the party’s national leadership will soon head to Mpumalanga in an attempt to resolve the matter.
“The convener of Mpumalanga is Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, as per the decision of the national officials of the National High Command of the President. So, that is the convener of Mpumalanga. We are aware that there are people who are not pleased with the composition of the leadership in Mpumalanga. Such is the case as well in Limpopo,” says Shivambu.
“That is why we gave an indication here that the leadership, the national officials will go to the province to listen to each and every member of Umkhonto weSizwe, as to what are the basis of their concerns so that we can resolve all these issues and then we end up with one organization,” he adds.
