Media Statement NELSPRUIT – The Police in Low’s Creek are investigating a double murder case following an incident that occurred at Sheba Siding in Low’s Creek. According to a report, on 19 February 2025, at about 14:30, two male suspects are said to have entered a certain house. The two are said to have followed a male victim (40) as he went behind the house. Shortly after, sounds of gunshots were heard and the two men were seen holding firearms in their hands. It was during this time when the victim was shot. One of the people that were present at the house with the victim, is said to have responded and fired some shots using his licenced firearm. The suspects also shot back at him but he managed to escape and jumped over the fence. Shockingly, a neighbour (47), who was inside the house heard the sound of gunshots and she reportedly peeped through the shack where she was. It was during that time when she was shot and died as a result. Thereafter, the man later returned only to find both victims lying motionless and were certified dead by the paramedics at the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, Police opened a case with two counts of murder. Some empty cartridges, as well as some live ammunition at the scene and other items that were confiscated for further investigation. No one has been arrested, and Police have since instituted an investigation with a hope to apprehend the perpetrators. Police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the suspects to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or call the Investigation Officer, Detective Sergeant George Mazibuko 082 546 2039. Alternatively members of the community can send information via MySAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential, and callers may opt to remain anonymous. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has condemned the barbaric act and ordered for a swift arrest of the perpetrators that had fled on scene.
