Media Statement FREE STATE – Earlier today, 14 February 2025, Operation Vala Umgodi Proactive operators received and operationalised intelligence about an unlicensed firearm being kept at an identified unit at F-Hostel Thabong Extension 4. The team arrived at the target house at about 06:10, and a search was conducted. A firearm was found hidden inside the drawer of a closet. The prohibited firearm was loaded with a magazine and 15 live ammunition rounds. A 21-year-old foreign national male was immediately warned of his rights and placed under arrest. A case docket of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition was opened at Thabong police station. The suspect will appear before court soon.
