PRETORIA – David Gymah (38) and Victor Kwane (48) have appeared before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 05 February 2025 on charges of possession of abalone and the matter has been reminded to 13 February 2025 for formal bail application. It was reported that on Tuesday, 04 February 2025, the Gauteng Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Cape Town Crime Intelligence and Gauteng flying Squad acted on information about the two suspects residing in Eastleigh Ridge, Evendale who were found in possession of abalone. A search was conducted and information given led the members to the said address. Upon arrival, the team reportedly found the two accused packing dried abalone into a plastic bags and they were immediately arrested. Through investigation, it is was discovered that the house (place of residence) was used to dry plants as several heaters, fans and chemical were found inside the house. The estimated street value of the abalone is R2.4 million. Ends
