Media Statement TSOMO – The South African Police Service (SAPS) is actively pursuing a suspect in connection with the serious allegations of rape and robbery of a 75-year-old woman at her residence in the Mdletyeni Administrative Area. The incident is reported to have taken place on Friday, 31 January 2025, at approximately 21:00. It is alleged the victim was asleep in her home when an unidentified individual, reportedly concealing his identity with a balaclava, forcefully entered the property. It is alleged that the suspect committed the acts of sexual violence against the elderly woman before proceeding to rob her of an undisclosed sum of money. A case of rape has been opened. In a determined effort to ensure public safety and deliver justice for the victim, the police are appealing to community members for any information that could assist in the apprehension of the suspect.
