Media Statement NORTHERN CAPE – Fernando Beukes (32) was sentenced to 15 years for the murder of John Brudy Field (43) in the Springbok Regional Court, recently. On 02 March 2024 at approximately 09:25 the accused and a lady acquaintance were walking home from town when he got involved in an argument with the victim. As the argument progressed, the accused entered the yard and stabbed the victim once in his chest. John Field died on the scene and the accused, Fernando Beukes was immediately arrested by police. Beukes pleaded guilty and was sentenced on 28 January 2025 in the Springbok Regional Court to 15 years imprisonment of which 5 years is suspended for a period of 5 years and declared unfit to possess a firearm. The SAPS Management commended the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant James Rosenberg of the Nababeep SAPS Detectives for his meticulous investigation that led to the outstanding sentence. Ends
