Media Statement BOHLOKONG – The 24-year-old woman from the Motsekuwa Section, Bohlokong filed a complaint alleging attempted rape and robbery, and the Bohlokong police responded with professionalism and excellence by following up on leads that resulted in the suspect’s arrest and the confiscation of a knife. It is alleged that on 28 January 2025 at about 04:35, the 24-year-old woman was walking alone at Ext 8 near railway tracks when she noticed a man from a distance wearing blue overall with reflectors on the legs. Suddenly, the man was standing behind her, took out a knife, and robbed her of a cellphone. He further tripped her on the ground, attempting to rape her but failed because she screamed for help, and he fled the scene on foot. On 29 January 2025 at about 22:30, she approached Bohlokong police station and opened a case. The shift that was on duty upon receiving more details about the description of the suspect reacted swiftly to the complaint, knowing the sensitivity of the case. They traced and found the suspect at his place and he was arrested. The police couldn’t find the cellphone but only a knife in his possession. The suspect is expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 31 January 2025, facing charges of attempted rape and robbery.
