MTHATHA – OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana commended partnership between SAPS and King Sabatha Dalindyebo Law enforcement officers which positively resulted in the arrest of three male suspects aged between 23 and 37 and the recovery of four unlicensed firearms (3 x 9mm pistols and a revolver) and explosives in Mthatha on Monday, 27 January 2025 at about 11:00. King Sabata Dalindyebo law enforcement officers requested a backup from SAPS members after arresting three male suspects and recovering four unlicensed firearms with serial numbers filed off and ammunition. Members from Tactical Response Team (TRT) swiftly responded and conducted a follow-up operation at Zandukwana location where hidden V6 explosive blasting cartridges and shock tubes assemblies were recovered from the suspect’s homestead. They proceeded to Manxiweni locality, under the Link Administrative area, and recovered V6 explosives blasting cartridges, detonators, stocktubes assemblies, gas cylinder and gas lighting cutting torch from the suspect’s homestead. The duo will have added charges of unlawful possession of explosives. The trio will appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 28 January 2025. Ends
