Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has ordered the police to track and trace the suspect who allegedly attacked and killed a 47-year-old Police Sergeant attached to the Rooiberg police station in the Waterberg District. Initial reports suggest that the Sergeant returned home on the night of January 25 2025, with her boyfriend. The next morning, her lifeless body was discovered by her six-year-old grandson. At that time, both the boyfriend and the Sergeant’s vehicle were missing. Neighbours reported the matter to the police, who promptly summoned emergency medical personnel, who confirmed the sergeant’s death at the scene. Later, her private vehicle was discovered abandoned about 50 kilometers away from her home, along Thabazimbi Road near, Koedoeskop. The motive behind this senseless act of violence remains unclear, although domestic violence cannot be ruled out at this stage. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Hadebe has condemned this incident in the strongest terms and has directed the police to mobilise all available resources to locate and apprehend the suspect. Meanwhile, the Provincial Commissioner has also conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the late Sergeant during these trying times. The police are appealing to the 43-year-old, Malebye Ben Molefe to come forward to the nearest police station, as he may possess critical information that could assist in resolving this case.
