Media Statement FICKSBURG – Police in Ficksburg have arrested two suspects on a farm in the Ficksburg district following the alleged murder of a foreign national who was caught red-handed with three bags containing clothes and groceries stolen from the farmstead. It’s alleged that on 22 January 2025 at about 16:30, the two people on the Ficksburg farm saw a suspect coming out of the farmhouse with three bags and discovered he gained entry by breaking the door open. They confronted him and the suspect charged the two with a pair of scissors. They overpowered and assaulted him with a knobkerrie and stick until he became unconscious and called the police. He was declared dead by Emergency Medical Service personnel. The deceased has been identified as a foreign national from the neighbouring country bordering Ficksburg. A case of murder is being investigated. The two suspects were arrested and charged with murder. They are expected to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court today, 24 January 2025 facing a charge of murder. Ends
