Media Statement ODENDAALSRUS – Police have arrested a 66-year-old man for possession of copper cable and housebreaking implements near a farm in Odendaalsrus. It is alleged that on Wednesday, 22 January 2025, police received information about a possible business robbery at a power plant on a farm in the Odendaalsrus precinct. Members were mobilised, and they followed the information. On their way to the identified farm, they came across a suspicious-looking charcoal Chevrolet vehicle. Police attempted to stop the vehicle with no success. A high-speed chase ensued in pursuit of the suspects resulting in the suspects abandoning their vehicle near Van der Vyver Road from where they fled on foot into the bushes. Police managed to apprehend one male. Rolls of copper cable with an estimated value of R150 000 were confiscated by the police. The male suspect aged (66) was subsequently arrested for possession of copper cable and housebreaking implements. He will appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 January 2025.
