Media Advisory The Minister of Police, Mr Senzo Mchunu, will lead the Safer Festive Season operations in KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, and the Western Cape. These operations are part of a nationwide initiative aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all South Africans and tourists during the festive season. The Minister will be joined by the National Commissioner of Police, General Masemola and other senior officials from the South African Police Service (SAPS), local law enforcement agencies, and community safety stakeholders. These operations will include a variety of interventions such as roadblocks, search-and-seizure operations, and other crime-prevention measures. The focus is to deter criminal activities, enforce compliance with the law, and promote safety on the roads. As part of his engagements, the Minister will attend the funeral service of a police officer in Cliffdale, KwaZulu-Natal, who tragically lost their life in the line of duty. This officer was among the four victims of a shooting incident on the 14th of December 2024, which claimed the lives of two police officers.
