FREE STATE – Operation Vala Umgodi team received a tip-off on stolen property connected to a burglary residential case opened at Odendaalsrus. Operators followed up on the information and searched an identified house in Bronville near Welkom. Property reported stolen including welding machine, weed eater, wood cutter, microwave oven, amplifier, sound speakers and many other tools were found on the premises and four (4) foreign national males aged between 25 and 42 were arrested. A case of possession of suspected stolen property was opened at Bronville; the case will be investigated together with the Burglary (RES) case which was already opened at Odendaalsrus Police Station. Meanwhile, three (3) illegal underground miners aged 24, 31 and 42 were hoisted from underground to the surface at Beatrix Mine Shaft 3. According to two (2) of the suspects; they went underground by being smuggled hidden inside material car by mine employees. The third suspect alleges that he was hauled before kangaroo court, found guilty and was kicked and beaten with sticks for refusing to cooperate with instructions of those who are in charge underground. Case dockets of Trespassing, illegal mining and Contravention of the Immigration Act was opened at Theunissen Police Station. More arrests we effected as operators found a 28-year-old male busy with mining activity on Sibanye Stillwater Mine grounds. Gold bearing material weighing at 15.60 kilograms was seized by the police. Still at Sibanye, a 33-year-old suspect was found busy with separation process on a makeshift slope table. Gold bearing material weighing at 9.60 kilograms was seized and the suspect was arrested. Case dockets of possession of suspected gold bearing material, trespassing on a mine area and contravention of the Immigration Act was opened at Theunissen Police Station. All suspects will appear before Court soon. Ends
