WELKOM – The Provincial Commercial Crime Investigation Unit in Welkom has made a breakthrough in a fraud related case as a former employee at a pharmacy is charged with fraud on 10 January 2025 in Welkom. It is alleged that an audit was conducted at the pharmacy in Welkom. It revealed that during the period from 18 March 2017 to 16 March 2023, the female employee has been committing fraud. Investigations revealed that the pharmacy had lost money and stock of medicine amounting to more than hundred and twenty thousand rand. A case of fraud was registered in Welkom. The Provincial Commercial Crime Investigation Unit led the investigation, and the case docket was taken to the Senior Public Prosecutor for a decision. The 47-year-old female suspect was charged and issued with a summons to appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on 3 March 2025. Ends
