BOTSHABELO – On Friday, 10 January 2025, the Task Team conducted a “Drugs Off the Streets” operation in Thaba Nchu and Botshabelo, resulting in several arrests and the seizure of a substantial amount of narcotics. In Thaba Nchu Central Business District, five suspects aged between 41 and 32 were arrested for dealing in drugs and a significant quantity of drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash were confiscated after they were found in their possession. While in Botshabelo acting on intelligence-led information, members executed a search warrant at a house in Section G, Botshabelo. Inside, members found a 19-year-old African male actively involved in dealing drugs. A search of the premises revealed a dedicated room utilized as a drug preparation and storage facility. Members discovered 250 ziplock packets containing dagga and 3 litres of unpackaged dagga. In an attempt to evade arrest, the suspect allegedly offered police officers a bribe. This act of bribery resulted in an additional charge against the suspect and he was arrested for dealing in drugs and bribery. The suspects will appear in the Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu Magistrate courts soon. Ends
